Three years ago, a few days before
Christmas, Tamalyn was listening to a radio program. The guest speaker
was a teacher working
in Compton, an inner city if
Los Angeles. The teacher spoke of kids attending school
malnourished, unclean, and some with severe tooth
decay.
Upon the realization that was taking place only 15 miles from where
Tamalyn lived, she decided to visit the school. Since that day,
Tamalyn
started Kids in Solitude (KIS), a 501(C)3 not for profit organization.
The most valuable lesson I have learned is to always promote dignity.
"The children we help have mothers and fathers who
work exceptionally hard. However, their
income is not enough to provide the basic necessities their
children desperately need.
KIS stands behind the belief of providing
relief, not reliance. Since this organization began, we
have raised enough funds to feed over 3,000
families for the past 3 years. As of today,
1,000 children have received shoes, 8,000 Christmas toys have been
given, 317 fully cooked Thanksgiving dinners have been distributed and
33 children have received dental care.
So how did this CD come to fruition? A few
friends believed in Tamalyn's singing and here vision. They put their
money together, found a songwriter Jimmy Jackson, took a plane to
Nashville and this rockin country music CD
was born. Jimmy Jackson, an
accomplished multi-talented musician and songwriter highly
respected in Nashville, offered his music and songs to make this album
have substance. His way of writing a song is brilliant and makes people
think about the different stages in their life, whether good or bad.
Thanks, Jimmy Jackson! Meanwhile . . . KIS has raised awareness and, with your help.
money! We hope you enjoy the music, and hopefully, after listening to
the 40-second music excerpts you will purchase the album.
Each CD cost $15. Your contribution towards
helping kids living in Compton and South Central Los Angeles is $10.
The rest will be donated to the incredible individuals that made
this music possible.
Tamalyn has been singing since she was 5 years old and thought this was
the best way to put her talent to good use.
